GREAT LITTLE INEXPENSIVE TORCH!Feb 06, 2010
By DMITRIY I've had mine for a few years now, it's absolutely terrific. The plastic it's made of is strong and durable, but incredibly light. Without batteries, it feels practically weightless. I am serious, you will be amazed -- the only weight you will feel in your hand (or pocket) is the weight of the two AA batteries. I also have a MINI MAGLITE, but I stopped using it -- it's a little heavier, you have to turn the bezel to turn the light on (two-hand operation), it's all-around less comfortable. The positive points for MAGLITE in this comparison: it looks better then Rayovac, it's somewhat water-proof, comes with the spare bulb, and you can adjust the size of the beam. The light output of these two torches is the same (same batteries and bulbs), but Rayovac has a much better, "cleaner" beam, with a lot less artifacts inside the light spot.
I use my Rayovac Industrial A LOT. I am a taxi driver, I mostly do nights, and I check the the back seat and the tires all the time. I probably turn it on about 15-20 times every day -- I am not exaggerating! And it lasted me about 5 years so far, with no signs of any problems. Well... the letters RAYOVAC INDUSTRIAL had washed off, it looks sort of "used", but I am not about to throw it away -- it works 100%! Of course, I dropped it many times -- no problem, just slight scratches. It comes with one bulb -- no spare. I changed the bulb several times -- with my heavy use, the bulbs last less than a year, but they are cheap and easy to find, I get them from TARGET, and there is space inside the flashlight to store a couple of spare bulbs (wrapped in small pieces of paper, so they don't rattle).
There are many newer fantastic LED flashlights out there, and they outperform this one hands down. But they cost many times more. For my purposes this little RAYOVAC is just perfect, I simply do not need 200 lumens, and I will not pay $80 for that. If all you need is a small, well built, durable, feather-light torch that will brightly illuminate few feet in front of you -- consider this one! Please note: it is not water-proof. I never had issues with this, but if you submerge it, the water will easily get inside through the switch.
About 10 years ago, I had a Rayovac Industrial, a bigger one, I think it took "D" batteries. It looked very much similar, just bigger. Well, I hated it. The contact was always broken, it was just falling apart -- it was a mess, and I discarded it after a while. Now this one is completely different quality-wise, it's solid and reliable, very good!
I just found this light for less than $4 (+ tax) at LOWE'S, and they ship for free. :) So I got two as gifts.
Sorry for a long review, I just wanted to let you know how much I love and recommend this little thing. I would give it 10 stars without hesitation.
************************************** p.s. After watching some video reviews on *you tube*, I went ahead and got myself a Fenix LD20. It is absolutely amazing, many times better than Rayovac (it is, of course, 14-15 times more expensive). And it will now become my main flashlight. But I will still have the Rayovac in the car, as a backup. The most important point about the Rayovac is that you are getting something of high durability/quality/practicality for $4, which is EXTREMELY rare nowadays!

Best little flashlightOct 07, 2011
By Lorraine A. Wormald We use this flashlight daily - when walking the dog. A great strong light, small enough for the pocket but fits well in the hand. I've been searching for this flashlight to purchase more.

I wanted a small but powerful flashlight to keep in my suitcase for traveling and this one is great on both counts.
A Good PurchaseJan 09, 2013
By LarryC I have been using this model of flashlight daily for a number of years, and decided to purchase another one before it is no longer available. Also, decided to use one flashlight, having weaker batteries, for inside the house use and the other flashlight, having stronger batteries, for outside use.
Previous to my 1st Rayovac 2AA Industrial purchase, I was buying and throwing away other brands/models of this type of flashlight all the time. Savings coming from purchasing the 1st Rayovac Industrial easily paid for the 2nd Industrial purchase.
